Impossible Darkslide
Editions

In order to create the most beautiful analog instant film ever, Impossible optimized the new film material in every single detail. One of these details is the so-called darkslide.

Basically the darkslide is a purely technical necessity, protecting the film from light as long as it is outside the camera. Impossible is converting the darkslides to collector cards by transforming them into an area to present art projects. On a regular basis we will invite artists to develop refreshing, creative and inspiring content that turns the Impossible Darkslides into unique pieces of art.

Feeling In the Grid

by Loïc Beck (FR)
2011

Loïc Beck graduated from Mulhouse art school in June 2009 and has since then been busy with art projects. One of it started in 2007 and was inspired by the first and the last part that you come across in analog instant photography: the darkslide and the empty film cartridge. Loïc used the plain darkslide of original Polaroid 600 film and turned them into his platform for creativity and art. By sticking black & white labels onto the darkslide he created different patterns and shapes with optically stimulating effects. The darkslides work as pairs, the one being the opposite of the other, the black labels becoming the white ones. In March 2009 Galerie Polaris in Paris showed an exhibition of this darkslide project, now Impossible is proud to present this artwork series where it belongs - on real darkslides used in Impossible PX 680 Color Shade First Flush film.

60 Impossible Still Lifes

by Amanda Mason (AU)
2010

Like the Surrealists in the 1920’s who passionately embraced and twisted objects from the tangible world, the darkslides by Australian Amanda Mason celebrate everyday items, put them into impossible scenarios and challenge our relationship with them. As is the nature of photography, always looking at things in a different way, exploring our relationship with the world through the lens.

The "61 Impossible Still Lifes" Darkslide Edition will be featured in the upcoming PX 680 Color Shade film packs.

Darkslide Edition #1

61 Impossible Projects

ˮ

by Alice Severin (CH)
2009

The first darkslide edition "61 Impossible Projects" was developed by Alice Severin. She is a student of the Style&Design Department at Zurich University of the Arts and was intrigued by the name and challenge of the Impossible Project's name. She took our heading literally and applied it to here darkslide Edition. Therein she challenges the user with little impossible projects - "think something is impossible"! (Impossible Project No. 15/61)

The "61 Impossible Projects" Darkslide Edition is featured in PX 100 and PX 600 Silver Shade film packs.
